Day 67: Down 100 times, up 101 times, I hope

Summary of the last few months:  my job ends, Mark's job ends, life turns upside down

Result: creativity tanks.

After months of dithering around, I managed to hold a full day workshop with 7 kids on Friday.  I organized a day full of wax based projects; batik, candlemaking, wax resist paintings.  It felt awesome to finally being doing SOMETHING.  So, why blog about this now?  Other than feeling awesome?

2 days without any weight on the foot.  6-8 weeks recovery.  Bad sprain.  And guess what?  You're going to enjoy the boredom with me!  So far?  I've knit part of a scarf, and made 8 little tam brooches for Mom and the Warblers.  They are quite cute, actually.  I was wondering what they might look like if I made them half that size...

I just noticed that the tassels are too big for the hats.  Boy, am I glad I published this picture... More blogs to follow, I hope.

Day 40: Oops.

I forgot that today is Sunday.  I must be on vacation.  Usually Emily does a post on Sunday but that will have to come later.  Sorry, Emily fans.

I thrashed all over today, artistically.  Mom and I did some sorting.  I washed the celestine ball.  I finished annotating one of the books on creativity I've been reading.  At 9:30, I had bubkiss (how do you spell that?  My spell checker has choked on it).  It's not like I didn't do anything -- I even made jam!  Ooh.  I could have taken pictures of that.  Shoot, my brain is fried.

Instead, I stumbled down to the studio and made myself do something.  In this case, finish up some eggs I've been trying new techniques out on.  If nothing else, the photo is cool, I think.

If I don't post for a few days, it's not that I don't love you, it's that I've buggered off to the cottage for a few days.  The book that spawned this 365 day thing doesn't mention going on vacation.  Oops.

Day Zero

So I've given up on my other blog site.  It wasn't working properly after going to Japan and now won't let me in.  Their loss!

So, a new start.  Again.

I bought a book the other day called 365: A Daily Creativity Journal by Noah Scalin.  It suggests making something every day as an artistic challenge.  The author made skulls. Some of them are quite interesting.

The idea appeals to me except for the 365 days part and the every day part.  He also suggests a theme (thus the skulls) to make it easier.  Really what my theme needs to be is: finishing stuff.  Most of my 'to be finished' pile, though,  is projects of more than one day tasks.

I think what I would need to do for this 365 project is break it up into days, like Monday is organize day, Friday is Finished Fibre day...I don't know what else yet.

So, what do you think? Is a 365 project crazy?
